Mel Miller's "Head of Slytherin"

Wow, I finally got around to finishing this. I must say, I'm pleased with how it came out. Line art by  Mel Miller.  See the original line art here. Severus Snape, of course, J.K. Rowling. I couldn't resist this Snape-o-licious line art by one of my favorite artists at Sheezy Art. Mel has a style all her own that I really enjoy.

Color done in Paint Shop Pro 9 using a combination of tools:

*Multiply setting on the paint brush for the initial color layout
*texturing on the brushes for the wood and stone effects
*layers for the candle glows
*lighten/darken tool for the shading
*a bit of smudge tool for blending
*some softening to add a bit of depth.

I had some sort of glitch along the way that messed up Mel's hand written title, so I replaced that with regular text. I also altered the shirt and raven quite a bit as the flat black they started out as ended up not working well with the style of coloring I'd used.  I had a lot of fun with this! I'd sit and color all day if there was pay in it. LOL Unfortunately, I don't get to do this often as it eats up my art time and keeps me from making stuff I can actually print and send out to shows.
